“A tale that will leave you thinking after the last page is turned (and hankering for the sequel!)” — Annette Gisby, author of Drowning Rapunzel and Shadows of the Rose, reviewing Nina M. Osier's High Places
Site most recently updated on November 24, 2009. My nearly completed manuscript now has its own page on this site! Scroll down for a link.
Welcome! I’m "9-UH." When I was about 14 years old and writing stories while I was supposed to be paying attention to my high school teachers, I coined the pseudonym "Marianne Barron." Yes, Virginia, Nina and Marianne really are the same person. You can contact either or both at: nina_osier@yahoo.com.
I write mostly speculative fiction, but I have some mainstream and nonfiction titles, too. I invite you to browse through the synopses on my pages, read sample chapters, and follow links to some other interesting sites. Thanks for visiting me! Enjoy.

To the Farthest Outlands finally has its own page on this site! I've written a blurb for it and created a cover mockup. Lots more to do, though. There always is.
People have started asking me what I am planning for my Christmas story and other holiday web offerings. I apologize to those who will be disappointed, but I don't think I will be posting such things this year. I have a very busy life right now, and it appears that I must choose between working on my current manuscript and spending time on Christmas materials. That's an easy choice. My muse wins.
For those of you who enjoy my pet photographs, you'll find them on my Cat Page. My free on-line book of pet stories, Mariah Omega, the Last Cat, finally got updated this month. Enjoy!

High Places made it to #19 on the science fiction best seller list at Fictionwise during its debut there! If you prefer the trade paperback edition, that's available at Amazon. Click the title to find out what reviewers are saying.
I have sent the third book in the Minders Series along to my publisher. It finally decided it wanted to be a trilogy, after keeping me guessing until well into the manuscript. That doesn't mean there will never be a fourth book, of course! But it does mean that the story begun in High Places and continuing in The Minder's Oath reaches its conculsion in Eve's Planet.
My long relationship with iUniverse, which recently merged with a company called AuthorHouse, has ended at my request. I've got nothing against AuthorHouse, but I didn't sign up to do business with them back in 2001; and I'd been thinking about taking this step, anyway, for some time. You will see some changes in my Amazon.com listings as a result, as well as on individual books' pages at this site.
Latest at Nina's Book Reviews: Shivering World, science fiction for an Evangelical Christian audience by Kathy Tyers. Also reviewed recently: A Town Like Alice, by Nevil Shute. This novel is my idea of a modern classic.
Author T.C. McMullen (Rise of the Arcadians) has reviewed my Farthinghome trilogy. I'm thrilled by what she has to say about Invasion, Exodus, and Atonement. If you take a moment to read, you'll see why.
Please bookmark this site and check back often. I'm always (except when my muse requires otherwise) changing or adding something. Hope to see you here again soon!
